UAE Golden Visa Salary Requirement 2026 — Who Qualifies on Salary Alone
The salary test in one line
Under Cabinet Decision No. 65 of 2022, a skilled professional can qualify for the Golden Visa with a monthly salary of AED 30,000 or more, at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent, a valid UAE work permit and employment contract, and an occupation at level 1 or 2 of MOHRE's occupational classification. ICP and GDRFA Dubai both list a 10-year residence for this route.
What counts toward AED 30,000
The official rule: ICP asks for “a monthly salary of at least AED 30,000, or its equivalent in foreign currency”, and GDRFA Dubai’s service card asks for “a monthly salary of no less than AED 30,000”. Neither says whether that means basic or total pay.
Dubai practice: advisers report that since late December 2025 GDRFA Dubai has assessed basic salary only, leaving out housing, transport and other allowances (Vialto Partners, 29 December 2025; Lexis Middle East HR Alert, January 2026). If allowances make up a large part of your package, confirm how your salary will be assessed with GDRFA or an Amer centre before you apply.
Other requirements Dubai applicants report
These come from adviser alerts rather than ICP’s or GDRFA’s published criteria, so treat them as reported practice and check them with GDRFA or Amer:
- More than 2 years of continuous employment with your current employer, plus 2 years of payslips and MOHRE-issued contracts showing the salary (Vialto Partners; Lexis Middle East)
- A MOHRE skill level 1 or 2 job title held for at least 2 years before you apply, unless you have a government nomination (Fragomen, 18 December 2025)
- A degree equivalency certificate if your degree is from a university outside the UAE (Fragomen). GDRFA Dubai’s card also asks for a Ministry of Education report recognising qualifications from universities outside the UAE.
Keeping the visa
The salary test does not stop once you are approved. GDRFA Dubai’s card says that “if the salary falls below AED 30,000 or the contract is cancelled, the Golden Residence Permit will be cancelled”.
Documents you will need
- Attested bachelor's degree (or higher) — see the document attestation guide for the MOFA chain
- Employment contract and salary certificate
- Six months of bank statements showing the salary landing
- Valid health insurance
If your salary is below AED 30,000
You are not out of options. The property route requires AED 2,000,000 in real estate (mortgaged purchases can qualify with bank letters), and separate routes exist for entrepreneurs, exceptional talents, scientists and outstanding students. The Golden Visa checker walks through every category in about two minutes.
Green Visa as the fallback
Skilled employees earning AED 15,000 or more a month with a bachelor's degree can target the 5-year Green Visa instead — no employer sponsor needed. The Green vs Golden comparison covers which fits when.
